The starting point of an effective Coronavirus (Covid-19) programme is staff safety, because:

  1. Front line building staff interact with more residents than almost all residents, and are thus most vulnerable to possible exposure.
  2. If building staff gets sick, many of the prevention processes will not get done, or others will have to pick up the slack. Front line staff is critical to help protect other residents.
  3. If a building staff member gets sick, they have the potential of spreading to residents.

To empower staff to be best protected, condo management needs to:

  1. Address attitudes and fears.
  2. Provide professional training.
  3. Provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  4. Provide necessary supplies.
  5. Support staff.
